THE WORK
SACRED VESSEL No. 08 is a one-of-a-kind Christian pottery vessel, individually formed in stoneware and hand-inscribed with the Trisagion Prayer in Arabic.
Holy God. Holy Mighty. Holy Immortal. Have mercy on us.
Its compact, substantial silhouette recalls ancient ceramic objects and the material simplicity of early Christian life. A pale alabaster exterior provides a striking contrast to the deeply carved, blackened Arabic inscription, while the matte-black interior extends the darkness inward.
The prayer belongs to the ancient liturgical tradition of the Orthodox Church and, rendered here in Arabic, reflects the continuing Christian heritage of the Middle East.
Created for the Christian home, the work is a sculptural expression of Orthodox faith, prayer, and devotion.

THE INSCRIPTION
قُدُّوسٌ اللهُ، قُدُّوسٌ القَوِيُّ، قُدُّوسٌ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ، ارْحَمْنَا
“Holy God. Holy Mighty. Holy Immortal. Have mercy on us.”
Known as the Trisagion, meaning “Thrice Holy,” this ancient Christian hymn occupies a central place in Orthodox worship.
The prayer joins a proclamation of God's holiness, might, and immortality with the Church's enduring appeal for mercy.
Its Arabic rendering reflects the liturgical inheritance of Arabic-speaking Orthodox Christians.
Each letter is carved directly into the clay and darkened within its recesses, becoming an enduring part of the vessel rather than an ornament applied to its surface.
SURFACE & FORM
The compact body is finished in Alabaster, creating a warm, pale mineral exterior reminiscent of weathered stone and ancient plaster.
A dark, textured glaze settles within the deeply carved Arabic lettering, emphasizing the inscription through shadow and relief.
The interior is finished in matte black, carrying the contrast between light and darkness into the vessel itself.
The individually formed silhouette retains subtle irregularities in its profile, rim, and surface.
No two surfaces, inscriptions, or silhouettes are identical. Every variation belongs to this individual work.
