Arabic Orthodox Pottery Trisagion Vessel
The Holy God - Trisagion Vessel is a one-of-a-kind Orthodox Christian Pottery stoneware vase bearing one of the oldest and most beloved hymns of Orthodox Christian worship.
Hand carved in Arabic, the vessel carries the opening words of the core Trisagion Prayer, the ancient hymn that has echoed through Orthodox churches for centuries:
Holy God.
Found within nearly every Divine Liturgy and daily prayer rule, these sacred words proclaim the holiness of God while inviting the worshipper into reverence, stillness, and contemplation.
Although created as a decorative vessel, its purpose reaches beyond ornament. The form is intended to inhabit a quiet corner of the home as an object of reflection, a contemporary work rooted in the visual language of the ancient Church.
Its softly rounded profile and fresco-inspired surface evoke the appearance of an archaeological artifact, as though gently uncovered after centuries, carrying both the permanence of fired stone and the quiet beauty of age.
The Inscription

These words are the opening invocation of the Trisagion Prayer, one of the oldest continuous hymns preserved within the worship of the Orthodox Church.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.
For centuries the Trisagion has been sung during the Divine Liturgy, prayed throughout the daily offices, and repeated by generations of faithful across the Orthodox world. Its inscription upon this vessel carries that ancient confession into the home, allowing a timeless prayer of the Church to inhabit an object formed by hand.
Surface and Form
The vessel's broad, low silhouette recalls the restrained proportions of ancient ceramic forms while remaining distinctly contemporary in execution.
Rather than relying upon a uniform glaze application, the exterior was built through successive hand-painted layers intended to evoke the weathered appearance of ancient wall frescoes. Soft mineral tones, subtle transitions, and intentionally irregular brushwork create a surface that feels quietly aged rather than newly finished. The result is not an imitation of antiquity but a modern stoneware interpretation of centuries-old sacred art.
The deeply carved Arabic inscription emerges naturally from this painterly surface, allowing the words themselves to remain the visual focus.
The interior is finished in Alabaster, whose luminous ivory glaze provides a quiet contrast to the richly textured exterior while reflecting light into the vessel.
Every variation left by carving, brushwork, glaze movement, and firing remains intentionally visible, preserving the individuality of a singular handmade object.
